Like a real world version of minecraft… [Oct. 1st, 2010|11:46 am]
Laurion

Ok, we officially have too many boxes now. For moving purposes I was lucky enough to score about 200 of the standard size filing box to pack and stash in a storage unit. We’ve been unpacking for a while now, and stacking all the empty boxes in our spare room. The boxes are now threatening to eat me. They’re stacked 8 tall, going the width of the wall and three rows deep. I’ve apparently been playing minecraft since before it came out, and didn’t know it. So if you have a use for filing boxes, let me know, and we can come to an arrangement. Please.

Didn't you move August 2009? Minecraft came out May 2009.

Not really. Minecraft has been in development since May of 09, but I wouldn't really say it was 'out' until this past summer, when it broke into Alpha mode, started adding Survival mode (Creative mode isn't so much a game....) and multiplayer support, and started revceiving major attention.

And yah, I did move in '09, but that was only a one year rental while we purchased a house, which we moved into a month ago.

Possibly! If we get the house we're currently pursuing (P&S hopefully being signed next week), we might well want boxes...

(I'm guessing from your description that they don't collapse?)

Congrats, if it turns out it is in order! And they do collapse. When I bought them it was all in flatpacks. I've not collapsed them partly because I haven't had to, and partly because like most boxes of this type, deconstructing and reconstructing reduces their structural integrity and lifespan. Especially the removable lids, which are really bad at it.

I am reminded of the Jenga Wall...

I apologize for not updating your wife yet. I would like 50 and Alex/Jen/Suzanne would like an additional 50. Hopefully that helps.

We do need to work out when/how we could retrieve them still but it should be in the not too distant future.

Yup, that'll be about half of them, and most of the ones that are freed at the moment. It'd be super special awesome if you could retrieve them before our party date(s), but I'm fully cognizant that it might just be wishful thinking on my part. :D

It'll depend on when we each have free time - unfortunately my weekend this weekend is completely booked, partly because it's one of the two weekends per year I actually have to work for my day job.

There's no way we'll be able to transport them or store them unless the boxes are collapsed, so I'll need time to come over and do that and/or assistance with that. I don't plan to collapse the lids, I hope, only the boxes. I'm also not 100 percent clear on how many of these boxes I can cram in my car at once, though I might be able to borrow a car or a housemate with a car with a larger interior.

Right now I don't have plans for Saturday the 9th, since all of the stuff happening that weekend seems to be on Sunday.

Depending on what time on the 9th, I might be able to help you collapse and transport boxes. My car is spacious.
