  1. Well, it only took me 4 months to break my own wish to post more frequently. Let's see if I can pick myself up and get back on.

  2. Got to see a small fire on campus Monday. Looks like someone flicked a still-lit cigarette into the mulch in the landscaping, and oddly enough, mulch burns. Who knew? A fire truck was on its way up the road when I passed, but it looked like the facilities guy was taking care of it pretty effectively with a gallon jug of water.

  3. If I were a fighter pilot and saw this, I think video game reflexes would kick in and I would definitely shoot first, ask questions later.

  4. I think game show hosts might secretly be Jedi. Think about it. Alex Trebec turns around and the screen changes without any visible motions. Other game show hosts too, like Richard Dawson from Family Feud. Think about the use of Jedi mind powers in games like Press Your Luck or $64000 Pyramid.... Can't you see Ben Stein as some sort of Jedi? And don't get me started on Bob Barker, tell me he isn't some sort of Sith Lord. Oh, oh, except for Pat Sajak. If he were a Jedi, he wouldn't need Vanna White to turn the blocks for him. I wonder what this says about Marc Summers.

It says that Marc Summers jumped ship and went to Food Network asap so he wouldn't be discovered - but the scene changes from food to food flawlessly. Clearly, Marc Summers is an old Jedi-in-hiding. ;)

Also: Best. Balloon. Ever.

A couple of months ago, the mulch near the trees at the new apartment complex behind my office building caught fire (seemingly spontaneously). From all reports, it provided some random entertainment for Kendall Square area employees.

He doesn't *need* VW to turn the blocks, he *could* do that with his mind. But she is better at atrracting (male) viewers than any Jedi Mind Trick :-)
